Project Development Manager

 

Position Type: Full Time-Salaried

The Project Development Manager will manage the development of utility-scale Solar PV + Storage projects. This is a commercially focused, multi-disciplined role that will be responsible for several projects at various stages of development.  The primary focus of this role will be to identify and coordinate the steps needed to successfully progress projects from origination or acquisition through to ‘NTP’ (i.e. notice to proceed).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and communicating project design attributes and key risks to the management team in support of investment decision making
  • Assisting in the evaluation of project acquisitions and preparation of bids/offers in tandem with GSI’s management team
  • Working with GSI’s internal finance team and monitoring the economic feasibility and budget to maximize the projects’ profitability
  • Coordinating technical studies with external engineering resources and other third-party consultants
  • Independently managing and performing project development tasks including interconnection application, environmental studies, title reviews, and permitting
  • Reviewing project design layout, project specification, progress tracking, and working in an integration role for various technical disciplines
  • Reviewing and approving energy yield calculations using energy simulation tools such as PVSYST, and NREL System Advisor Model (SAM)
  • Managing all project documentation, regulatory requirement milestones, and monitor project progress against those requirements
  • Assisting in the preparation and population of data-rooms with documents required for project finance
  • Attending townhall meetings as the need arises during the origination and development process

 

Requirements and Skills

  • Demonstrate experience in utility-scale Solar PV + Battery storage project development
  • Must have proven and hands-on in managing internal and external resources to achieve site control, permitting, interconnection, RFP responses, PPA negotiations, and other development milestones with minimal guidance
  • Ability to conduct preliminary sizing analyses for Solar PV + Battery storage systems
  • Experience navigating the interconnection process with grid operators such as MISO, PJM, EXCEL, is a plus
  • Be able to manage several projects, simultaneously, during their life cycle from land prospecting through initial operations.
  • Be able to set up and maintain project budgets and schedules
  • Ability to travel to visit project sites, third party consultants, transmission planning engineers, landowners, or local officials as required
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communications skills
  • High integrity, positive and proactive attitude, and willing to work as part of a team

 

Location

This position can be remote, but preferably located in the greater New York City or the Philadelphia areas.

 

Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on working experience with solar power plant development
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of energy simulation and monitoring tools
  • Posses a valid current driver’s license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage
