Lana Taher

Senior Project Developer

Give us a brief overview of your role.

I am a Senior Project Developer on our Business Development Team. My main focus is on supporting the overall project development lifecycle of our utility-scale solar projects across Canada. From Origination to construction readiness, development efforts expand from permitting activities at the provincial, federal, and municipal levels, to working closely with key stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and valued project partners, as well as supporting interconnection related efforts through the various project phases.

Within my role, I work closely and collaboratively with my fellow colleagues across different departments within the company, to continue progressing and expanding our project portfolio through current and new opportunities, working towards a shared vision and goals.

What is the most memorable moment you have had working for GSI?

Every year has brought forward a different and lively team-building event or activity that has provided a platform for continued engagement and strengthened teamwork. These opportunities to connect, in-person, with the team are always a highlight.

What led you to a career in project development and what have you found rewarding from working in the renewables sector?

Much of my work experience has been focused within the renewable energy and sustainability sector.

I find the renewable energy industry rewarding as its ever evolving and ever-changing, continuously bringing forward new and dynamic opportunities to explore. Each day provides a unique opportunity to share creative solutions with your team, build meaningful partnerships, and learn of new technological advancements.

There are continued opportunities to meaningfully collaborate, create, and help work towards bringing to fruition bespoke projects.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know.

I very much enjoy traveling and exploring new locations, locally or abroad. It is always wonderful listening to friends and colleagues recount stories of their adventures and begin to build lists of recommendations for future travel.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

You can usually find me exploring new local cafes, hiking trails, or enjoying a great movie or documentary with friends and family. I am also always on the lookout for a great new book.

What is one thing you’d like to cross off your bucket list?

I’d love to plan a trip to visit New Zealand. Exploring its diverse landscapes has been on my bucket list for a while.
